Injection-molded plastic model of a semi-trailer built for hauling timber and logs in 1:24 scale from the Italian brand Italeri. Note that this is not a vehicle on its own but a semi-trailer that couples to a tractor unit in the same scale (the tractor unit and further accessories are sold separately). The box holds the plastic parts, the chassis with axles, rubber tires and decals.
Timber semi-trailers are very widespread in Europe and are usually paired with heavy two- and three-axle tractor units. The structure has a rigid frame, axles with suspension strengthened for heavy loads, and stakes adjustable along the length of the load bed that hold trunks and logs of various sizes. The frame is built for a high payload and for the stresses of timber haulage.
Glue the plastic parts with thin plastic model cement. Apply a primer before painting and lay the paint on with an airbrush in thin coats. The frame and the chassis come alive once the detail is brought out with a wash and light weathering (mud and dust effects match work in the field). Logs, chains or straps make a fine addition for an eye-catching timber-haulage diorama.
