An injection-molded plastic kit in the large 1:32 scale from the Ukrainian firm ICM. A large scale makes sense with a biplane: the structure with its bracing, struts and latticework is legible in it and the cockpit and the engine have room for real detail. At the same time this is a build that will not tolerate haste, because the lifting surfaces have to be glued exactly on the axis and at the right angle.
The Gloster Gladiator was the last British biplane fighter aircraft taken into service with the Royal Air Force. Unlike the older biplanes it had an enclosed cockpit and its armament consisted of four machine guns of 7.7 mm caliber. A Bristol Mercury radial engine powered it. The Mk.II version differed from the first production version above all in its power plant and the propeller used. The aircraft reached combat deployment at the beginning of the Second World War in conditions it was already conceptually unequal to, and served in foreign hands as well.
The key step is the fitting of the upper wing. Glue the struts one after another and let them cure on a jig or in packing that holds the correct distance and angle of both lifting surfaces. Finish and paint the cockpit and the internal structure before you close the fuselage. We recommend handling the bracing between the wings, that is, the rigging, only after clear coating and applying the decals; elastic thread or stretched sprue works well. Before the decals a gloss layer of clear is necessary, after them a flattening of the whole model.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
