This themed package from the ICM range of diorama sets brings figures from both sides of the fighting for Gallipoli. Inside you will find three figure sets: British infantry, the British crew of a Vickers machine gun and Ottoman infantrymen, so a complete scene from the spring of 1915 can be built without buying further figures. The dynamic poses of the soldiers match combat use and complement one another.
The Dardanelles operation, better known as the Battle of Gallipoli, ran from February 1915 to January 1916. The Entente forces including the ANZAC corps tried to open the way to Constantinople with an amphibious landing, but the Ottoman defense held the peninsula. The campaign became one of the most demanding clashes of the Great War, cost heavy losses on both sides and remains one of the frequently worked modeling subjects to this day.
Khaki shades capture the British uniforms, while Ottoman uniforms tended to have warmer, greenish tones; dust weathering evoking the rocky terrain of the peninsula will unify both sides. A Vickers machine gun nest works superbly as the centerpiece of a diorama, complemented by sandbags and a rocky surface.
