Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the German midget submarine Hecht (type XXVII A) in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian maker Mikromir. According to the manufacturer the package holds injection-molded plastic parts, a photo-etched fret and decals. The name of the boat is written with an error in the initial letter in the designation on the box; the correct form is Hecht, German for pike.
The Hecht was a two-man German midget submarine with purely electric propulsion, inspired in design by British X class craft and by the Welman type, which it also resembled in appearance. Admiral Dönitz pushed for the craft to carry a torpedo and so be able to attack targets in coastal waters. From May to August 1944 53 units were built, although the plan spoke of a substantially higher number. None of them reached combat use - they served to train the crews of the later Seehund type, which had diesel-electric propulsion, greater range and two torpedoes.
A small craft in 1:35 means a large magnification of detail, so patient dry-fitting and fine sanding of the gaps pay off. Bend the photo-etched parts over a metal edge rather than in your fingers, and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Unify the hull with a primer coat; submarine gray will come to life only with a fine emphasis of the rivets and welds by a glaze and with slight rust at the keel.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
