Photo-etched engine deck grilles for the Soviet KV-1 and KV-2 heavy tanks in 1:35 scale from Aber. The pierced metal parts replace the solid plastic covers of the intake and exhaust openings.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched detail set in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber for models of the Soviet KV-1 and KV-2 heavy tanks. It contains the grilles for the cooling and intake covers of the engine deck. This is not a tank model but an accessory intended to replace the plastic parts on a finished kit.
The KV series of tanks were among the most heavily armored machines at the front at the start of the war. The KV-1 carried a gun of standard tank caliber, while the more massive KV-2 carried a short 152 mm howitzer in a tall angular turret. Both versions shared the same chassis and the same engine deck layout, whose openings were covered by coarse pressed grilles with a fine mesh.
Remove the solid plastic surfaces of the covers and leave the frame. Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife and make the precise bends in a bending tool. Soviet vehicles were often built with a thick layer of dust and mud, and a grille is the ideal place for pigments and trapped dirt. Degrease the metal before painting and apply a primer for metals.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
