1:35 Mobile Cellular Base Station (1pcs)

1:35 Mobile Cellular Base Station, an accessory for a diorama

1:35 Mobile Cellular Base Station (1pcs) is a scenic accessory for a diorama in 1:35 scale. It represents a base station of a cellular network, that is the technical back-up which today stands by practically every road. It is neither a vehicle kit nor a figure, but an element of the surroundings which is added to equipment in a scene. The name gives one piece in the package.

What the element gives a scene

Base stations belong among the utterly ubiquitous details of the present-day urban and suburban landscape, and that is exactly why a viewer reads them subconsciously as a date. In a view with contemporary equipment they say at once that the scene takes place in the last few decades, not during the Second World War. At the same time it is a vertical element which breaks up a flat composition and by which the viewer's gaze can be led from the edge of the base to the main model.

Usage tips

• Place the accessory so that it frames the main model rather than covering it.
• Choose the base shades in neutral gray and white, as is usual with this kind of equipment.
• Keep the patina sparing; it is equipment that tends to be fairly new and maintained.
• Mask the transition between the accessory and the ground with a dust shade matching the soil around it.
• Lay out the cabling and the lines before you set the element on the base for good.

Who the accessory is for

It will be reached for by builders of dioramas with contemporary equipment in 1:35 scale, whether the subject is urban fighting, humanitarian views or civilian scenes of everyday traffic. It will serve well with figure compositions too, where it rounds out the surroundings and sets the figures in a particular period.
