An injection-molded plastic kit of the Ford Model T passenger car in the Runabout version of 1918. The Ukrainian manufacturer ICM states 96 parts and a finished model 99 mm long and 59 mm high, so the car fits a display case as well as a smaller scene with figures. The set is placed in the First World War period.
The Runabout was the lightest and lowest-priced variant of the Model T: an open two-seat body with a folding fabric top and a large enclosed storage space behind the seats. A curiosity is the single door opening, on the right-hand side. Driving was handled by the three pedals of the planetary transmission, which controlled forward motion, reverse and braking alike. The car reached 65 to 70 km/h and thanks to high ground clearance and soft suspension it coped with the deep potholes and stony roads of the America of the time. In 1918 it cost a little over four hundred dollars, so it was within reach of someone on an ordinary wage.
Separate the delicate parts of the frame, the engine and the suspension with a sharp knife and join them with liquid cement for plastic, which runs into the gap. A filler primer pays off before painting, and the body then comes out best in a dark gloss shade applied with an airbrush. The fabric top and the seats are brought to life by a dark wash into the folds and fine drybrushing of the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
