Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures of the crew of the Soviet BM-13-16 rocket launcher of the Second World War period in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. It is not a model of the vehicle or of the launcher but an accessory meant to bring a finished model or a diorama to life. The exact number of figures, their poses and the package contents are given on the packaging of the set.
The BM-13-16 was a Soviet multiple rocket launcher of the Second World War, mounted on a truck chassis. It carried sixteen launch rails for unguided rockets, and its main strength was the ability to fire a whole salvo within a few seconds and then move position quickly. It was precisely the rapid deployment, aiming and withdrawal that made considerable demands on the crew, and that is reflected in the activities depicted: working the rails, handling the aiming equipment and moving ammunition. The figures are done in period uniforms matching the crews of rocket artillery.
Assemble the figures and sand the parting lines carefully before painting, especially on the faces and hands, where they show most. It works well to paint them separately from the vehicle and to seat them on the model only at the end. Build the uniforms up from a base shade through shading in the folds of the cloth to lightened edges; faces and hands can be managed with oils or with acrylics in layers. Check that the poses of the figures suit the height of the platform on the particular model — with figures meant to work a piece of equipment, the seating of the feet and hands has to be fine-tuned.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the vehicle are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
