The photo-etched metal detail set grilles for the KV-1 and KV-2 tanks in 1:48 scale from Aber. This is not a tank model but an accessory for a plastic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched metal set for completing plastic kits of the Soviet KV-1 and KV-2 heavy tanks in 1:48 scale from Aber. It replaces the solid plastic imitations of the grilles over the engine deck with genuinely pierced metal, so that the openings have depth and the cooling ducts look convincing. This is an accessory, not a standalone model.
The KV-1 and KV-2 were Soviet heavy tanks of the early part of the Great Patriotic War. The KV-1 carried a 76.2 mm gun, the KV-2 a massive angular turret with a 152 mm howitzer. Both types had prominent engine deck cooling grilles at the rear of the hull, which are among the most noticeable surfaces of the whole vehicle and immediately give away the quality of the work on a model. That is exactly why the rear of the hull is the first place an experienced modeler looks at on a finished tank.
Nip the parts out of the photo-etched fret and clean them up, make the bends on a bending tool or along the etched lines and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Degrease the metal before painting and take it over with a primer for adhesion. In 1:48 scale the parts are very small, so sharp tweezers and good lighting are worth having.
An accessory for a plastic kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
