An Aber 1:700 photo-etched set of ship stairs will replace coarse plastic parts with fine brass stairs on the decks and superstructures of warship models.

A photo-etched set from the Polish maker Aber in 1:700 scale with ship stairs. It is not a kit of a ship but an accessory with which you replace or add the stairs between decks and the levels of the superstructures on a warship model. The parts are etched from thin brass sheet, so they have a real thickness and a fineness that cannot be reached with injection-molded plastic in this scale.
On real ships the stairs are among the most noticeable details of the superstructures. In 1:700 scale, plastic kits tend to suggest them only, or to leave them out altogether. Etched stairs have the individual treads and the stringers drawn in, so once bent and glued on they look convincing even at close quarters. The form is general-purpose — the strips can be shortened to the length needed and used on practically any warship model in this scale.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel or photo-etch scissors on a hard mat, and never break them out with your fingers. Make the bends in a photo-etch bending tool or between two blades so that the edge is sharp and straight. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in the smallest amount, ideally with the tip of a thin wire. Degrease the brass before painting and use a base coat suitable for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold and rubs off while the model is handled.
This is an accessory photo-etched set, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
