USS Worcester CL-144 is a plastic kit of the American light cruiser in 1:700 scale from the manufacturer Vee Hobby, supplied in the higher Deluxe edition with photo-etch, turned brass and a wooden deck.

An injection-molded plastic kit of the light cruiser Worcester. The main purchasing distinction is the level of the edition, and with this vessel the contents are documented: the Deluxe edition adds to the plastic parts two photo-etched sets with railings, ladders, cranes and mast platforms, turned brass barrels for the main guns, two brass masts, a wooden deck sticker, deck masks and a metal anchor chain. This edition does not contain resin parts. The manufacturer also releases the same ship in the Standard version, which builds on plastic and decals alone.
The Worcester entered service on 26 June 1948 as the lead ship of her class and was therefore not a participant in the Second World War. Of the ten planned units only two were completed, the Worcester and the Roanoke. The ship was built around a new dual-purpose gun of 152 mm caliber, the first six-inch gun capable of firing effectively at aircraft as well, with a rate of about nine to ten rounds per minute. In the Korean War she supported the landing at Inchon and performed fire support and raiding tasks. She was decommissioned on 19 December 1958.
Apply the wooden deck sticker onto clean and degreased plastic; the enclosed deck masks will make the work on the edge substantially easier. Join the brass barrels and masts with cyanoacrylate and let them dull with a primer before painting. Fit the photo-etched railings only after the hull has been painted. The postwar gray coat is uniform, so it will stand out through shading of the panels rather than through masking.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
