A-7D Corsair II, USAF 353TFS/354TFW, Korat 1972 is a finished die-cast collector model in 1:72 scale from Century Wings, not a kit. A limited edition of 1500 pieces.
Responsibility details are not available.
A finished model from the Wings of Heroes line, not a kit. Mostly metal alloy with plastic parts and tampo-printed markings that will not fade and will not peel off the way decals do. The manufacturer limited the edition to 1500 pieces.
The A-7D was the version of the subsonic Corsair II attack aircraft for the US Air Force. It differed from the carrier machines in what ground operation needs: instead of the extending probe for refueling from a trailing hose it got a receptacle for a rigid refueling boom, it carried the M61A1 Vulcan rotary cannon and the TF41 engine. The aircraft was known for the accuracy of its navigation and sighting equipment, since it could put a bomb where other machines of the day only aimed, and it took over from the piston-engined A-1 Skyraider the role of escorting search and rescue helicopters.
In the autumn of 1972 three squadrons of the 354th Tactical Fighter Wing flew over from Myrtle Beach to the Thai base at Korat and joined the fighting in Southeast Asia. The 353rd Tactical Fighter Squadron was one of them; from there the wing flew combat missions over Vietnam and later over Cambodia until the end of American combat deployment in August 1973.
This is a finished item, not a kit. Check the version, the state of assembly, the painting and the extent of the package on the box.
