A turned metal gun barrel in 1:72 scale from the Polish brand Aber. It is not a vehicle kit but a detail accessory intended to replace the plastic barrel on a model of the German Jagdpanzer IV tank destroyer. The metal part has accurate geometry, sharp edges and a genuinely drilled-out muzzle, so there is no filling or sanding of the mold seam that always appears on a two-piece plastic barrel.
The 7.5 cm Pak 39 L/48 gun was the main armament of the first production Jagdpanzer IV vehicles, the low-profile German tank destroyers built on the Panzer IV chassis. The weapon of 75 mm caliber with a barrel 48 calibers long was derived from the Pak 39 anti-tank gun and gave the vehicle good penetrating power with an exceptionally low silhouette. The German army used vehicles with this gun from 1944 on both the Western and the Eastern Front.
Cut the plastic barrel off with a saw as close to the mantlet as possible, level the cut and, if needed, open the hole in the mantlet out with a pin vise to the diameter of the pin on the metal part. Degrease the brass part with alcohol, glue it with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or with two-part epoxy and watch the alignment with the hull. Apply a primer intended for metal before painting, ideally a self-etching primer, otherwise the paint holds poorly on smooth brass. In 1:72 scale this is a small part, so work with tweezers over a mat.
The set is an accessory for a kit; the vehicle model itself is not included in the package. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
