A German M35 or M40 steel helmet with a cloth camouflage cover in 1:48 scale. A separate part for figures and dioramas, supplied unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The steel helmet introduced in the German army in 1935 was given a simplified version, the M40, in 1940. The characteristic shape of the shell with its drawn-out rim stayed, and it was mainly the arrangement of the ventilation holes that changed. The cloth camouflage cover, pulled over the helmet in the field, broke up the sharp outline and offered a place for tucked-in twigs or grass.
The set brings a helmet with a camouflage cover in 1:48 scale as a separate detail part. It will serve as a replacement for the helmet from the kit and as a small touch in a scene, say a piece of equipment laid aside on a crate or hung on a figure's webbing.
The part is very small at this scale, so handle it with tweezers and dose the glue with the tip of a toothpick. Once degreased, the thinnest coat of primer is enough, because a heavy spray would smooth over the detail of the folds. Suggest the pattern of the cover with a few patches, since a tiny surface takes only a simplified design.
The accessory is meant for modelers of figures and scenes in 1:48 scale who want crisper equipment than the kit gives them. Figures, paints and glue are not in the package, unless stated otherwise.
