A finished model of metal alloy in 1:72 scale, not a kit. The helicopter is assembled and painted in the markings of a Chinese army machine with the number LH99748. Witty Wings was a brand of finished die-cast models of aircraft in 1:72; it no longer makes new pieces today, so this is collector goods from a line that is out of production.
The Mi-171 is the export designation of the Mi-8AMT helicopter, which the plant in Ulan-Ude builds. It belongs to the Mi-8 and Mi-17 family, Hip in the NATO code, and it is a medium transport helicopter with two turbines above the cabin, a five-blade main rotor and a cargo compartment with side doors and rear clamshell doors. The Hip family is the most widespread helicopter of its kind and it is built in versions from purely transport ones to armed ones.
The Chinese army has been taking machines of this family since the 1990s: after deliveries of the Mi-17 type the first Mi-171s followed in 1999 and 2000, and further batches after them. What was valued about them in particular was the ability to work at high altitudes, without which deployment in the mountainous regions of western China would make no sense.
This is a finished item, not a kit. Check the version, the state of assembly, the painting and the extent of the package on the box.
