An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet ZiL-157 off-road truck in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. The model captures the massive three-axle vehicle with all-wheel drive, which served as the army's universal chassis. ICM offers this vehicle in several body versions (among others as a tanker, that is a fuel truck); check the particular variant and the contents of the package for this item against the manufacturer's part number.
The ZiL-157 was one of the best-known Soviet trucks with high cross-country mobility. It was built from the end of the 1950s at the Moscow works and became famous for its central tire inflation system, which made it possible to drive in mud, sand and snow. Thanks to its reliability and its load capacity it became the basis for a whole range of army bodies: flatbeds, tankers, workshops, radio stations and launchers. It stayed in service for decades in many countries.
The smaller 1:72 scale puts the emphasis on clean work with small parts. Cut them off the sprues carefully and glue them with thin cement for plastic. Paint the chassis, the axles and the cab before the final assembly. After the base protective green, apply a gloss coat under the decals and complete the weathering with washes into the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects on the tires and the chassis.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
