A collector plastic model of the German BR 50 class freight steam locomotive in the 1:87 (H0) railroad scale from Italeri. It is an injection-molded plastic kit that has to be glued and painted; the box contains a decal sheet. The model is over 26 cm long and captures the characteristic running gear with its many wheels. The exact number of parts is given in the instructions in the box.
The BR 50 class was a standard German freight steam locomotive with five coupled axles. It was developed from the second half of the 1930s as a powerful yet track-friendly machine for branch and main lines. It was among the most widespread German steam locomotives — several thousand were built. A simplified wartime version appeared during the war, and locomotives of this class ran in many European countries long after 1945.
Glue the plastic with a thin plastic cement and clean up the joints of the boiler and the cab. Assemble the running gear on a flat surface so that the model stands on all its wheels. Matte black forms the base, and dry-brushing with a metallic shade suits the edges. A touch of rust and coal dust on the running gear and the bunker will give the model a worn look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
