Lifecolor UA599 Duck Egg Blue FS35622 Matt

A modeling paint of the Italian brand Lifecolor from the UA range, the manufacturer's part number UA599. It is an acrylic paint with a water-thinnable binder in a matte finish, supplied in a bottle of 22 ml. It is not a kit and not an accessory for a build, but a separate paint for application by brush as well as airbrush.

The shade and the standard code

The shade carries the designation Duck Egg Blue and the code FS35622. Federal Standard is the American standard of shades, which paint manufacturers use internationally, so the same code means the same shade across paint manufacturers, and the same pair of name and number stands identically with other brands as well. Paint manufacturers list it as the lower shade of the Israeli desert scheme, used from the late nineteen-sixties on machines such as the Mirage III, Nesher, F-4E or A-4.

Use

• Airbrush: thin to a milky consistency with water or with Lifecolor thinner and spray at low pressure.
• Brush: apply in several thin coats and let each one dry through completely.
• Under decals and under weathering, first give the matte surface a coat of gloss varnish compatible with acrylic.
• Clean brushes and the airbrush with water right after work, before the paint dries.
• Stir the bottle thoroughly before application, the pigment settles to the bottom.
