Dwarven Flesh aims at skin that has spent a life underground and in the wind: darker, earthy, with a brown-red undertone and without the pink freshness of a young face. It suits dwarves, blacksmiths, miners, pirates and in general all characters whose face is to look more like a piece of tanned leather than like courtly skin.
Darker flesh tones have one practical advantage. They carry the shadow themselves, so fewer coats are needed on a figure: the color is laid onto the area, a brown shade is run into the beard and the folds and the nose, the forehead and the cheekbones are pulled out with a shade a step lighter. The face gains volume without the painter having to compose five transitions.
The shade is suited outside faces too. On belts, pouches and straps it works as a lighter leather tone and in a palette it serves as a link between flesh and brown colors, because it mixes with both groups without going gray.
The work goes on with water, it is also cleaned with water and a bottle with a dropper allows you to take out really only as much paint as is being used. The cap fits tightly, so the contents do not dry out even during longer breaks between projects.
On a finished character it pays in the end to compare the face with the surroundings of the base. When the soil underfoot is colder, the warm skin stands out even more and the figure rises optically off the surface.
