White is among the trickiest shades of all. Few cover a dark surface reliably, and when lightening they easily drift toward gray or a bluish tone. The shade from this range is therefore listed as a pure cool white with high covering power, which is exactly what you need for winter finishes, for frost, for lettering or as a base for mixing pastel tones.
The binder is acrylic and thins with water, so there is no lingering odor and no need to work with technical solvents. The dried film is matte and offers a good base under washes and pigments. For an airbrush, thin the paint to the consistency of milk and spray in several thin passes, otherwise the white will fill fine engraving. For brushwork, on the other hand, keep it thicker and rather add a second coat.
Shake the bottle properly before every use, as white pigments sink to the bottom faster than others. Wipe the cap after work, otherwise dried paint on the thread will make the next opening harder.
Where does white come into its own most? On a winter finish on vehicles, which once dry can be partly rubbed off to reveal the original color beneath. Also on tactical numbers and stripes, on tarpaulins and on clouds of exhaust smoke in a diorama. As an additive it serves to brighten darker shades, but add it in small amounts, because an opaque white shifts a tone faster than one would expect.
