An aid for diorama work from the Spanish label Green Stuff World. It is a rigid acrylic mold into which pliable modeling putty is pressed to take an impression of a paved area. The Round Dumble Paver subject matches interlocking pavers with rounded units that fit into one another. It is not a finished part and not a decal: you make the surface yourself, repeatedly and over as large an area as your scene needs.
A rounded pattern looks softer than rectangular paving, so it suits sidewalks, courtyards, the areas in front of shops and park paths. In a scene it works well as a transition between a roadway and greenery, because the rounded shape of a paver sits better with the irregular edge of a lawn than sharp corners do. Making the area yourself has the further advantage that you bound the pattern exactly to your own baseboard.
Roll the putty out into an even slab first, and only then press it into the mold with one push over the whole area, so that the pattern does not break anywhere. It is a good idea to dampen the mold lightly before taking the impression, or to treat it with a release agent, so that the putty does not stick. Once it has hardened, take the impression out and trim it to the shape you need. A dark shade then runs well into the joints and separates the individual pavers visually.
