ADC Grey FS 16473 in a 17 ml bottle

A paint from the Real Colors line by AK Interactive with the code RC890, volume 17 ml. The light gray shade is identified in the name both by the abbreviation ADC and by the number FS 16473, that is by its designation in the American color standard.

The real subject

This tone of gray became established through the American air defense interceptors that wore it overall, without camouflage patches. A single-color finish makes high demands on a model: it has no pattern to break the surface up, so the result rests entirely on the shading of the surfaces, the rendering of the panel lines and the worn spots around intakes, hatches and walkways. Around the engine outlet the finish also changed and darkened with heat.

Working with the paint

• A light gray covers more slowly than dark tones, so rather apply more thin coats.
• The base has to be smooth; on a light single-color surface every scratch and every fingerprint shows.
• Stir the contents of the bottle before work, otherwise the settled pigment stays at the bottom.
• Thin it with the product recommended for this line and try the ratio on an offcut.
• Apply masks before spraying and only onto a cured underlying coat.

Who it will serve

Builders of American aircraft in a single-color gray finish, in any scale. The shade also suits accessories and carried equipment that were sprayed over in the same tone. Work in a well-ventilated room and close the bottle after use.

The package contains one bottle of paint of 17 ml. The thinner, brushes, an airbrush and a clear coat are not included, unless stated otherwise.
