A light gray paint from the Real Colors line by AK Interactive in a 10 ml bottle. The shade carries the designation AE-9 / AII Light Grey and the manufacturer's part number RC308. It is worth noting both of them down: when you come back to finish a part-built project, you need exactly the same tone. With light grays the difference between two shades shows far more than with dark colors, because a light surface hides nothing.
Shake the bottle thoroughly before work, the pigment settles at the bottom. Wash and degrease the model; on greasy plastic the paint holds poorly and peels off when the masks are removed. Light shades cover less well than dark ones, so over a dark base or over filled areas it is sensible to put a light base coat underneath. Otherwise the patches showing through only appear once the paint has dried, when putting it right is a slow business.
Thin the paint with the thinner the manufacturer recommends for this line, and try the ratio on a piece of scrap first. Spray in several thin coats and let the surface set between them; a single thick coat floods the engraving and roughens the surface. Put the masks on before spraying, not after. When working with a brush, pick up little paint and draw the strokes in one direction so that their edges have time to merge.
The package contains 10 ml of paint. Thinner, an airbrush, brushes and other modeling aids are not included, unless stated otherwise. Work in a well-ventilated room and store the bottle tightly closed and out of the reach of children.
