This is a loose powder colorant for weathering, not a liquid paint and not a kit. In Czech terminology it is a pigment for weathering, and according to the name of the product the shade is black brown.

What a pigment is and how it differs from a wash

A pigment is a fine dry powder with no binder. It does not flow, it does not dry and, until it is secured, it can be wiped off a surface or moved. That is the fundamental difference from liquid weathering products: a wash is a thin paint that runs by capillary action into recesses and engraved lines and stays there once it has dried; a filter shifts the tone of a whole area. A pigment, by contrast, works with material and surface texture — on a model it creates a grainy, matte and slightly raised deposit that you cannot achieve with a liquid paint.

How to work with the pigment

• It is applied with a dry soft brush, from a paper surface or from a dish if you like.
• It holds best on a matte surface; it slips off a glossy clear coat.
• Excess is removed by wiping, with a brush or a cloth, not by rinsing.
• The application is built up gradually and checked from a distance as you go.
• Once the effect is finished the pigment is usually secured, otherwise it stays transferable to your fingers.

Who it is for

For modelers who are finishing vehicles, aircraft, dioramas and figures and want to take the surface all the way. Pigments belong to the final steps, after the base coat and after the liquid weathering techniques.

This is a very fine powder. Work in a well-ventilated room, do not inhale the powder and consider respiratory protection when working with a larger amount. Keep it tightly closed and out of the reach of children.
