Airbrush Cleaning Set (Revell)

A set of aids intended for cleaning an airbrush. It is neither paint nor a kit but service equipment that belongs to the everyday running of an airbrush. Dried paint in the nozzle, in the needle channel or in the cup is the most common cause of an uneven spray, spitting and so-called spidering, and most of this trouble can be headed off by cleaning thoroughly after every session.

Use

• When you have finished spraying, pour out the remaining paint and wipe the cup out mechanically first, and only then flush it
• Clean the cup and the channel to the nozzle with the matching brush, using a stouter one for coarse residue and the thinnest for the channels
• Draw the needle out to the rear, wipe it from the tip toward the body and check that the point is not bent
• Choose the thinner according to the chemistry of the paint you are working with: for water-based acrylics, water and an acrylic cleaner are enough, while enamels and lacquers call for the matching solvent
• Before a longer break, take the airbrush apart, let the parts dry thoroughly and lightly lubricate the seals
• Never leave the whole gun with its seals soaking for long in an aggressive solvent

It will be appreciated above all by modelers who switch shades during one session and need to clean the gun quickly between colors, and also by those who work with pigmented or metallic paints, where deposits cling hardest.

Cleaning fluids and thinners are not part of the set, unless stated otherwise. When working with solvents, ventilate the space, protect your eyes and hands and do not work near a naked flame.
