A stencil for the airbrush. It serves to apply fine textures and patterns to a model and to the base of a diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
The stencil is laid on a surface, paint is sprayed over it and once it is taken off a pattern with crisp edges is left behind. By hand with a brush such a regular texture is slow to draw and never comes out evenly, whereas through a stencil you apply it in a moment and can repeat it as needed in several places in a scene.
It saves the most work on the bases of dioramas: for suggesting the grain of wood, concrete, flaking plaster or coarse fabric. It also serves well on the surfaces of vehicles and buildings where the finish is meant to look worn, and on figures for suggesting the texture of cloth. The range includes sheets of various sizes and motifs, from wood grain to small irregular patches.
Try the spray on an offcut of plastic or on card first, so that you know how densely the paint goes through the cut-outs. The texture looks more natural if you do not lay it on evenly over the whole area but strengthen it in places and merely suggest it elsewhere. If you shift the stencil a little and spray lightly over it in a darker tone, an impression of depth appears.
Paints, an airbrush and a model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
