A set of stencils for spraying with an airbrush. It is laid on the surface of a model or a diorama before spraying, and the paint draws the required pattern through it.

A stencil is a thin pattern sheet with the design cut out. It is laid on an area, sprayed over, and the paint goes through the openings only, so an exact outline is left on the surface. By hand such a pattern is hard to draw and comes out irregular, whereas through a stencil it comes out the same every time. In modeling practice this is how repeating textures and overall patterns on models and on dioramas are handled. What pattern this set carries and how many stencils it contains are given by the manufacturer on the packaging.
Lay the stencil on the surface only once the coat of paint beneath has dried and before the spraying itself, never the other way around. Press it close against the area so that paint does not run under the edge. Spray perpendicular and in several thin coats, not in one heavy one, otherwise the paint creeps under and the outline smears. Take the stencil off shortly after spraying, while the paint is fresh, and clean it at once with the thinner that matches the paint used. Dried paint on the edge of the pattern will spoil the result the next time it is used.
A set of stencils is supplied. Paints, an airbrush and a model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
