ALL IN ONE SET -BOX 1 – CHARVINS FACADE

What it is

It is a themed set from a numbered range in which every box covers one subject: the first carries a facade, the others an English hotel, the gate of a space station and a second facade. The designation ALL IN ONE suggests that the manufacturer put the set together so that the builder would not have to buy everything for a given subject separately. What is in the box, though, differs from one to the next, so go through the list of components on the box before you buy.

What it is suited to

The subject is the frontage of a building, that is, an item that sets the setting of a scene and at the same time makes a natural backdrop for vehicles and figures. A facade holds the viewer's eye and makes it possible to build a striking scene on a small area, which is useful above all where you do not want to build a whole street.

Building tips

With scenes of this kind it works well to go from the top down: lay the composition out dry first, and only then glue and paint. Paint the facade before you seat it in the terrain — the foot of a wall is hard to reach with a brush or an airbrush. Layer shadows and deposits of grime where they would appear in reality as well: under window sills, in corners and near the ground. For the particular procedure, the ratios and the drying times, follow the manufacturer's instructions on the box, because they differ between the individual components of the set.

Who it is for

For modelers who build scenes with buildings and want to start from a ready-made themed basis instead of hunting down individual components. The model, figures, tools and base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
