About product

OILBRUSHER Aluminium — Metallic Oil Paint from AMMO of Mig Jimenez, 10 ml

Aluminium from the OILBRUSHER range is an oil paint in a bottle with a volume of 10 ml, whose cap doubles as a brush — so you apply the paint directly to the model, with no palette and no thinning. It is not a kit, but a modeling paint, that is, chemistry. The shade is the lightest and brightest of the three metallic tones: a pure aluminum shine, noticeably lighter than steel and far removed from dark gun metal.

When to use Aluminium instead of Steel

Aluminium is the paint for bare metal surfaces on aircraft — so-called natural metal finish, polished panels, engine cowlings, and spots where worn paint reveals bare aluminum sheet. Wear on tank armor, tools or the contact surfaces of tracks, on the other hand, is steel, not aluminum — reach for the Steel shade there. If metal instead needs to look dark and oily (weapons, breeches), that is where Gun Metal belongs.

Use

  • Pigment settles to the bottom — mix the bottle thoroughly before every use, or you will lose the metallic shine.
  • Works great for dry-brushing edges and wear: pick up a small amount of paint, wipe off the excess, and lightly brush over panel edges, hatches and walkway surfaces.
  • Intended for shading, stippling and highlighting edges — not as a covering coat for the whole airframe.
  • Dries slowly and stays blendable for a long time, so you can gradually spread the shine over an area or pull it back.
  • Thinned and blended with odorless thinner / mineral spirits, not water.
  • Apply over a cured, varnished surface; the metal looks best on a smooth, glossy base.

Who the paint is for

Mainly for aircraft modelers dealing with worn paint and bare metal surfaces, but also for builders of vehicles and sci-fi subjects who need a light, bright metal.

Contains solvents, flammable. Use in a well-ventilated area, do not inhale fumes, protect your skin and airways. Keep out of the reach of children and away from ignition sources.

FAQ

Aluminium is the lightest shade, for bare metal surfaces on aircraft and spots where worn paint reveals aluminum sheet. Steel is a darker, cooler shade — for wear on armor, edges, tools and the polished surfaces of tracks.

The metallic pigment settles to the bottom of the bottle. Without thorough mixing, you mostly apply the binder. Always mix it well and apply it over a smooth, cured surface.

No. It is an oil paint for weathering and detailing — shading, stippling and highlighting edges. A full metallic coat is done with other products.

Odorless thinner or mineral spirits, not water. Apply it over a cured, ideally varnished surface.
