An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale by Litaki model kit capturing the two-seat upgraded version of the Soko Orao ground-attack aircraft, the NJ-22M1 Multirole. It is a richly equipped short-run kit with a large number of plastic parts and an extensive photo-etched fret, complemented by painting masks and decals for the Serbian Air Force. The airbrakes are separate parts and the canopy can be built open or closed. The fuselage parts have locating pins that make assembly easier, and the way the fuselage is broken down allows the panel lines and the riveting on the sides to be shown.
The Soko J-22 Orao, meaning eagle, was a twin-engine subsonic ground-attack and reconnaissance aircraft developed jointly by the Yugoslav firm Soko and the Romanian side (in Romania under the IAR-93 designation). The NJ-22 was the two-seat variant; the upgraded NJ-22M1 version received a new nose section, a digitized cockpit and new weapons options, which turned the original attack machine into a multirole aircraft. The kit also offers stores — guided and unguided weapons and reconnaissance or jamming pods.
Bond the extensive photo-etch with super glue and plan the order of the cockpit assembly in advance. Dry-fit the fuselage parts to check how they meet. Apply a primer and paint with an airbrush; bring out the riveting and the panel lines with a thin wash. Fit the airbrakes and the stores at the very end. Mask the canopy with the masks supplied and glue it on once the frame has been painted.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
