0.7 mm in a countersunk version. The largest of the three smallest sizes of the line, where the shape of the inner recess is already recognizable from close by.
Responsibility details are not available.
At this step the hexagonal recess finally stops looking like a mere dot and begins to have a recognizable outline. That changes the way of working: it makes sense to turn the head, because its orientation will be noticeable on the finished model, and it makes sense to clean the recess carefully, since every bit left in it will be seen. In 1:12 scale the size matches a real head of around eight and a half millimeters.
A raised head breaks a surface up; a countersunk one, by contrast, knits it together. On the tank, the side panels or the seat cover one therefore usually reaches for the countersunk solution, while on the frame and the engine domed heads look more natural. The choice is thus not a matter of taste but of what the real subject shows, and it is worth looking it over on photographs before the build.
The seat for the cone can be made without a second tool: it is enough to turn a larger bit in your fingers over the finished hole. If you are working into a thin wall, back it from the inside with a piece of plastic, otherwise the mouth will break through. Drill the hole itself with 0.6 mm.
The three smallest sizes of this head are also sold together as one item. Anyone unsure which size he needs for his build thus saves deciding in advance.
Painting the element separately does not pay. It is better to seat it into a finished surface and leave it its own shade, or merely to take the shine off with a matte overcoat applied over the whole part at once.
