The highest diameter offered in this scale, 1.2 mm. A sunken head with a hexagonal recess for the heftiest joints.
Responsibility details are not available.
1.2 mm closes the range the manufacturer offers for this group of accessories. It is neither chance nor a gap in the range: the coarser diameters begin only in another group of products, intended for military and utility vehicles, where the scale carries on up to two millimeters. For road machines this value is a natural ceiling, because even on the real subject these are already the screws that hold the wheels and the brakes.
In 1:6 scale, that is on large display-cabinet builds, this head matches a real width of 7.2 mm. In 1:12 scale it is already 14.4 mm, which is the size of the head of an M10 screw, the kind used to clamp a wheel axle or the holder of a brake caliper. On a smaller part this step therefore looks out of place, whereas on the axle group it looks exactly as it should.
The larger the head, the more conspicuous it is when it does not seat. At this diameter a carelessly made countersink shows at once, because the element tilts and casts an asymmetrical shadow. It pays to widen the hole carefully and to keep trying it dry until the head lies level with the surface.
Reach for this step when you want the viewer to notice the joint. It is the most prominent size of the whole scale and it will stand the company of coarser surfaces only. On one model there tend to be only a few such places, usually around the front wheel axle and in the area where the engine is mounted into the frame, so the consumption tends to be lower than with the middle sizes. The rest of the machine gets by with the finer steps, and it is exactly from that contrast that the impression arises that the build has a hierarchy.
