The DSPIAE base for the PB series of scribers is an accessory for the modeling bench that keeps scribing tools ready at hand and protects their fine tips from being rubbed against the bench top.

It is not a scribing tool but a rest for the PB series of scribers from DSPIAE. Pull scribers have a very thin tip of hard material and are, paradoxically, most vulnerable at the moment when they are not working: the tool only has to roll off the bench onto the floor or knock against the jaw of a pair of pliers and the point is broken off. The base sets the tools in a fixed position, so they do not roll and do not knock against one another.
It earns its place for anyone who has several scribers of this series and alternates them while scribing lines according to the width of the groove. Anyone who gets by with a single tool can do without the base easily. But as soon as you have to hunt for the right thickness among the other pieces on the bench at every change of width, clear storage starts to show its worth at once, and not only in time saved but above all in the tips staying sharp longer. It is the typical accessory nobody buys first, but which comes to mind after the first broken tip.
The material, the dimensions and the number of sockets of the base are all stated on the box. Scribers are not included in the package.
