The AGM-78 antiradiation missile in 1:32 scale is a resin accessory by Reskit for models of American aircraft intended for the suppression of air defenses.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set by Reskit represents the AGM-78 Standard ARM antiradiation missile in 1:32 scale. It is a resin accessory of underwing armament that is fitted onto a finished aircraft model. The casting holds the slender shape of the body and the thin fins, on which every thickening of the material shows at once; it is precisely here that resin has the edge over injection-molded plastic.
The AGM-78 is an American missile that homed on the emissions of ground radars, developed from a naval antiaircraft missile. It was deployed in the role of suppressing air defenses, that is on machines that hunted down and destroyed radars. Compared with the older AGM-45 missile it had greater range and a heavier warhead, which told on its dimensions as well, and on a model it therefore makes a prominent store.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent so that the remains of the mold release agent come off. Cut the casting block away with a saw and level the surface with a file; support the fins as you work so that they do not bend. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, dosed drop by drop on thin parts. Apply a primer before painting. Paint the missile separately from the aircraft and fit it only at the end, as you then reach both its body and the pylon more easily.
