A flat profile of beechwood measuring 4 x 250 millimeters, a material for building models, dioramas and bases.
Responsibility details are not available.
A flat strip of beechwood. The name gives the size of 4 x 250 millimeters, the longer of the two figures being the length of the profile. It is a semi-finished wooden building profile, that is a material from which a builder cuts and shapes the parts himself.
Beech is a hard deciduous wood with a fine, even grain, with no marked figure and no resin channels. It therefore holds its shape, can be sanded smooth and takes even light milling and drilling without splitting along the grain. It is precisely for its evenness that it suits places where the wood is meant to show, as well as places where it is to disappear under a finish.
Cut with a fine-toothed saw and support the strip while doing so, so that the end does not break out. True the cut up with finer-grit sandpaper. For gluing wood to wood, PVA glue suits; for quick joints and for joining to another material, cyanoacrylate. Before staining or varnishing, sand the surface and free it of dust; beech takes stain fairly evenly, but try the shade on an offcut all the same.
Tools, glue and a surface finish are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
