A flat brush holds a straight stroke and lays the paint down in a continuous band, so it suits flat surfaces, transitions and edges, where a round brush would leave an uneven coat. It comes into its own when hand-painting larger parts, when applying clear coats before decals, and when spreading a binder or a pigment over an area.
Synthetic filaments are springy, return to shape well and put up with handling that would damage natural hair. They do best with water-thinnable paints, where they keep their point even after a long session.
Clean the brush immediately after use, with water for water-thinnable paints and with the appropriate thinner for the rest. Never let paint dry in the ferrule, which is exactly where it builds up and splays the filaments. Do not stand the brush in a jar filaments down, because they will bend permanently. After cleaning, straighten the tip between your fingers and let the brush dry lying flat or filaments up.
It will serve beginners for hand painting and experienced modelers as a working brush for clear coats and binders. Paints and thinner are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
