A model of the French passenger car Citroën Traction Avant in the 11CV BL version, assembled from plastic bricks. It is a product of the Polish brand COBI, that is a kit with no gluing: the parts are joined by clipping together and the finished model goes straight on display. The colors are given by the color of the bricks themselves, so no filler primer, airbrush or varnish is needed.
The Traction Avant went into production in 1934 and combined several solutions advanced for their time at once: a unitary body with no separate frame, front-wheel drive and independent suspension. The 11CV designation refers to the period tax class derived from the engine, while the BL suffix belonged to the shorter and lighter body version. The car stayed in the range until the middle of the 1950s and its silhouette with separately shaped fenders and a low, smooth body is among the best known shapes of European interwar production.
Work through the enclosed instructions step by step and press every brick fully home. A part that is not fully seated shows up in the later layers as a warped surface and is then hard to find. On the body, keep checking whether the following parts line up and whether both flanks are symmetrical. The finished model is structurally firm and will take being carried, but always lift it by the chassis, not by the fenders or the roof. Protect a model on display from direct sunlight, which does colored bricks no good in the long term, and blow the dust off it or sweep it off with a soft brush.
The kit is supplied unassembled. Neither glue nor paints are needed for the assembly.
