A smoke glaze from the Real Colors line by AK Interactive, in a 17 ml bottle. It adds no color cast but darkens: the shape and the engraving of the part stay visible under the coat, they only go darker. The degree of darkening is governed by the number of layers, from a barely noticeable haze to dark smoked glass.
On smoked glazing and on light covers that you want to make less transparent, and on clear parts that should look used. The second common use is shading: a thin layer in recesses, around panel lines or behind exhaust outlets darkens the area smoothly and without a hard transition, because the paint hides nothing underneath.
Stir the paint thoroughly before use. Work in very thin layers and let the surface become tacky in between; with a smoke glaze this matters more than with other shades, because every layer darkens and the way back is hard to find. Wash and degrease clear parts beforehand and hold them by the edges. Mask the areas that are to stay transparent before you spray and take the mask off only once the paint is dry. Follow the manufacturer's data for thinning and for cleaning tools.
For the modeler who is fine-tuning glazing and lights or shading a finished paint job and wants shades from a single line. It finds a use across all subjects, because an aircraft, a car and a ship all need darkening in the same way. The package holds only the 17 ml of paint; thinner, primer and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
