The burnt grass shade is one of the most useful and at the same time most neglected colors in model landscaping. Deep green only holds for a short part of the year, and only where there is plenty of water. Field margins, embankments, the edges of fields and south-facing slopes are yellow to rust brown from July to October, and it is exactly this tone that gives a scene a clear season without repainting anything.
The bag holds 2.83 dm³ of material, almost three liters, which is the largest format in this line. The material comes as irregular clumps that are pulled apart into smaller pieces. One bag covers several square meters of a layout, or builds up a supply that lasts a long time.
Military dioramas from southern Europe, North Africa or the Middle East live on these tones. The same goes for railroad layouts, where a dry strip along the track separates the ballast from the greenery around it. It also proves itself as a transition layer: glued between green and bare soil, it softens a border that would otherwise look like a cut.
Dry tones take pigment much better than green ones. A light dusting with a pale dust pigment turns the grass into parched steppe and ties it in with the dusty road beside it. The bag contains plant material only; glue, pigments and a base board are not in it, because the modeler is expected to choose those to suit the rest of the scene.
