Paint Forge Curve Stencils L — a universal masking stencil

Curve Stencils is a universal stencil with arched, curved cutouts. You lay the sheet on an already painted surface and apply paint through the cutout. It is not a mask cut for a particular kit but a reusable aid everywhere you need a regular arc: the dividing line of two-tone camouflage, a rounded stripe on a fuselage, a wavy line on the side of a vehicle or the rounded rim of a panel.

The letter L in the name marks the larger of the pair of sheets that Paint Forge offers for the same pattern; the smaller sheet carries the letter M in its name. A longer arc on a larger sheet suits extensive areas, where a curve from a small sheet would have to be extended and the join would show.

How the stencil is used

• Let the base coat dry out completely, and only then mask.
• Lay the sheet on and hold it; press the edge of the arc down along its whole length, so that no paint seeps under the edge.
• If you want a soft camouflage transition, lift the stencil a little above the surface and spray thin coats from a greater distance.
• If you want a sharp edge, press the sheet down instead and lead the airbrush perpendicular, again in thin coats.
• Lift the stencil off while the paint is damp and clean it before it dries.
