Deck Tan is an acrylic paint for modelers from the 3rd Generation range from AK interactive, supplied in a dropper bottle holding 17 ml. It is a modeling paint, not a kit — you are buying the shade itself, not a model. The binder is acrylic, so it is water-thinnable: the paint is densely pigmented, covers well, dries quickly and stays matte. You can use it with a brush as well as with an airbrush.
The name refers to a deck tan — a warm, faded sandy tone of the kind that the wood of a ship deck has after sun and salt have weathered it. It is neither a pure beige nor an ocher: the shade is muted and grayed, so on a model it looks natural and does not shout.
It is thinned with water or with the AK acrylic thinner intended for the 3rd Generation range — never with lacquer thinner or alcohol. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, the pigment settles at the bottom. With a brush the paint is practically ready to use; for the airbrush you thin it to the consistency of milk and spray in thin coats. On a smooth, primed surface it holds better and the shade comes out cleaner.
For ship modelers who need believable deck wood, for diorama builders and figure painters working with wood and textiles, and for aircraft and military modelers as a light tone in desert schemes and as a universal lightening shade. A beginner will manage it as well as an advanced builder.
A modeling acrylic paint. Ensure sufficient ventilation and protect your airways when spraying with an airbrush. Keep out of the reach of children.
