DESERT UNIFORM BASE – FIGURES

This is a water-based acrylic modeling paint from the 3rd Generation Acrylic range. It is thinned with water or with the same maker's acrylic thinner, not with lacquer or synthetic thinner. The word base in the name indicates that the shade is meant as the base coat, onto which the shadows and highlights are only then built. The qualifier for figures says that the paint belongs to the part of the range intended for figures and their equipment. Desert uniform tones are as a rule light and sandy, so they take dark washes into the folds well and are at the same time easy to brighten on the edges of the cloth.

Use

• Shake the bottle thoroughly before work, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
• Light sandy tones cover better over a light base, so prime the figure with a light primer.
• Apply the paint in two or three thin coats, as one thick coat floods the fine relief of the cloth.
• Once the base coat is dry, pick out the folds with a dark wash and brighten the edges with a lighter tone.
• For an airbrush, thin it with water or acrylic thinner, and choose a lower pressure for figures.
• Wash the brushes out with water straight after work, as dried acrylic is difficult to remove.

Who the paint is for

For figure modelers who build desert scenes and need a reliable base tone for a uniform that can be worked on further. Builders of military equipment will use it too, for canvas covers, packs and sleeping bags. A water-thinnable acrylic cleans up easily and calls for no solvents.

Store the paint in a tightly closed bottle out of the reach of children and work in a reasonably ventilated room. The rendering of the shade on a monitor may differ from reality.
