Edging - Light Green by Woodland are grass tufts with which an area on a finished diorama is broken up and the viewer's gaze is led.
Responsibility details are not available.
A scenic material in the form of grass tufts. The tufts are not sprinkled over an area but set in place one at a time on finished and fixed terrain as the final layer of vegetation. Look for the height of the tufts and their number on the packaging.
A large grassed area with no articulation is a problem on a diorama: the eye slides over it and has nothing to catch on. Tufts solve that problem by bringing rhythm into the area. When you arrange them in irregular clusters, open space arises between them that starts to work as a path for the gaze, and the scene gains a foreground, a middle and a background. It is proven practice to work with density: keep the area around the main model or figure fairly clear so that nothing competes, and raise the density toward the edges of the base, where the tufts at the same time close the composition off and draw attention away from the edge. A lighter position of green suits sunlit places and the foreground, because light tones visually bring things closer; in shade and at the feet of buildings a darker material will read more naturally.
For modelers who are finishing a diorama or a base under a figure or a vehicle and want the composition under control. It combines well with a darker position of green, with which light and shadow can be worked on one scene.
The tufts are supplied as a scenic material to be glued onto finished terrain; glue and paints are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
