Emerald 17 ml - an AK interactive 3rd Generation acrylic paint

Emerald belongs to the extensive green section of the 3rd Generation line. It is a water-based acrylic paint in a bottle of 17 ml, that is a water-thinnable acrylic and not a lacquer or a synthetic enamel. It is not thinned with solvent thinners; clean water or acrylic thinner is enough, and brushes and the airbrush are cleaned with water right after work, before the paint dries.

Use and thinning

• Airbrush: thin the paint to the consistency of milk and spray in several thin coats, not in one heavy one.
• Brush: the paint flows readily, but on large areas a cleaner result comes from two thinner applications.
• Shake the bottle properly before every use, as the pigment settles at the bottom during storage.
• Close the bottle right after taking paint out, because a water-based acrylic dries quickly at the rim.

Application tips

Saturated green shades generally have weaker covering power than grays and browns, because the pigment is more translucent. Lay them on over a light base, therefore: a white or light gray primer will make the shade glow and will save you a coat or two. Over a dark base the green will look muddy and you will be going over it needlessly. Let the paint dry thoroughly between coats; going over a wet coat too early leads to an uneven sheen. If you are planning decals, go over the dried paint with a gloss clear coat so that no air is trapped under the decals.

Who the paint is for

It suits anywhere a clean, bold green with no military cast is needed: modern civil and racing vehicles, motorcycles, accessories, figures, science fiction and fantasy subjects or diorama details. Thanks to its water base it also suits modelers who work in a flat and do not want the smell of solvents.

Keep out of the reach of children and close the bottle well after use. When airbrushing, work in a well-ventilated space and protect your airways.
