Autumn Foliage Yellow

HEKI foliage flakes, autumn yellow, 200 ml

Loose foliage flakes from the German maker HEKI in a package of two hundred milliliters, colored to a yellow autumn color. Of the autumn tones yellow is the most striking and on a diorama it works as an accent of light which draws the eye. That is precisely why it is handled differently from green: it is not scattered over the whole growth but onto selected trees and parts, so that a scene does not come across as a backdrop of colored paper.

Use

• putting birches, poplars and other trees with yellow autumn coloring into leaf
• creating fallen leaves on the ground beneath crowns
• bringing color to a predominantly green or brown scene
• a transitional layer between the green and the brown part of autumn

How to work with the foliage

Apply flocking or thinned white glue to the trees and scatter the flakes from above over a dish placed underneath, so that the surplus can be used again. For fallen leaves go the other way about it: apply the glue to the ground around the trunk in an irregular patch and scatter the flakes onto it so that they thin out toward the edges. You can moderate the saturation by mixing a little brown or green foliage into the yellow.
