A decorative mat from the German maker HEKI from the decovlies line of a size of twenty-eight by fourteen centimeters. The carrier backing is covered by small particles in a purple shade keyed toward lilac, which imitate flowering herbs and bushes. In a landscape purple is the color of heather, lilac and lavender, that is of growth which in nature grows in strips and clusters rather than scattered. That is the clue as to how to handle the mat.

How to work with the mat

Tear a smaller piece off, loosen it with your fingers and lay it on a finished area where you want flowering growth. It is fixed with a drop of white or flocking glue. Unlike the varied flower decor, the purple will stand larger continuous areas as well, because heather and lavender really do grow like that. With bushes, apply the material to a small armature of foliage, so that a flowering bush has volume and is not merely a patch on the ground.
