A brown modeling compound in a 500 g package. It ranks among the formable compounds from which the surface of a scene is built: it is applied in a soft state, shaped into the relief you want and it stays where you put it. The compound has the brown tone right within itself, so neither a scraped spot nor a crack will glare into a finished scene in a foreign color.
Brown is the color of topsoil, forest floor and a muddy road churned up by traffic. It therefore suits plowed land, the bottoms of ditches, the banks of a stream, the root ball of an uprooted tree and places where equipment has torn the surface up. It will also serve well for sinking a model into terrain, so that wheels or tracks settle into soft ground and a scene does not look like a model stood on a board.
Work in smaller doses on a firm, clean surface, press the compound out and shape it with a spatula, a knife or your fingers. You will create a surface texture with the impression of a scrubbing brush, coarse cloth or the wheels of the model itself, if you want to rut a track for it. Press sand, small stones, scatter or static grass into a freshly applied layer and they will bond with the terrain without further glue. The exact working procedure and the setting time are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging; stick to them.
For builders of dioramas, layouts and gaming boards who prefer to model terrain themselves rather than put it together from ready-made parts. The paints, the glue, scatter and a base for a diorama are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
