A set of twelve manhole covers in 1:87 scale from the Heki company. A small accessory that turns a smooth roadway or sidewalk into a believable street.
Responsibility details are not available.
Manhole covers belong among the small details that decide whether a street on a layout looks alive. They suit an asphalt roadway, paving, a sidewalk, an entrance and a factory yard. It is exactly details like these that the eye registers before large areas, because it knows them from the street below the window.
In the package you will find twelve separate covers in 1:87 scale, that is in the ordinary H0 size. The count will do for a whole stretch of street including a crossroads, and the remaining pieces can be placed in yards and side alleys, where an empty area would otherwise be left.
A cover looks best sunk into a surface rather than stuck onto it. In a roadway, then, cut a shallow recess with a sharp knife and seat the part in it with a glue suited to that surface. In color a cover always differs from its surroundings: cast iron darkens and rusts, a darker ring of sealing tends to show all round it and the middle is smoothed by tires. A dry brush and a thin pigment deposit will do most of the work.
The set is intended for builders of dioramas and layouts in 1:87 scale who want a town scene worked out down to the small things. Even a beginner will manage it, because installation calls for nothing more than a sharp knife, tweezers and patience.
The package holds the covers. A roadway, a diorama base, the glue and the paints are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
