A pair of Dur construction boards with a raised relief of a rough wall of quarry stone, each measuring 28 x 14 cm, for H0 and TT scales.
Responsibility details are not available.
A wall of quarry stone is recognized at first glance: the stones have an irregular shape, the joints break and nowhere does a straight horizontal course run. It is precisely this irregularity that is hardest to imitate by hand, because the eye spots a repeated pattern immediately. These boards of the Dur line from the Heki company carry a ready-made raised relief of such a rough stone wall.
The package holds two pieces, each measuring 28 x 14 cm. The boards are intended for H0 and TT scales, that is for the ratios 1:87 and 1:120. In H0 scale the longer side corresponds to roughly 24 meters of real length, in TT to just under 34 meters. The pair can be laid side by side to cover a continuous stretch of wall, or split between two separate places in a scene instead.
First lay the boards out dry and run the joint where a bush, a post or an edge of the terrain will cover it. Fix them to the base according to the manufacturer's instructions. Begin painting with a dark base, which will stay in the joints, and only then draw the edges of the stones out in a lighter tone with a dry brush. Do not leave the stones in one shade; pick several of them out into a warmer or a grayer position. Finally add moss and self-sown growth in the joints and suggest wind-blown soil at the foot of the wall, so that it does not look new.
The boards will be used by builders of layouts and dioramas in H0 and TT scale for the retaining walls of cuttings, for base courses, bridge wing walls, a town wall or the wall around a farm. The paints, the glue and other building material are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
