The ending of the engine nacelles of the British Phantom in 1:72 scale for the Fujimi molds and their boxings from Hobby 2000.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Japanese kit of the British Phantom is among the molds that have lasted in the range in a small scale for decades, and in recent seasons it also appears in boxes of the Polish brand Hobby 2000. The shape of its tail comes out differently from the newer British competition, and that is why replacement nozzles have to be listed as a separate item: one set simply does not fit both kits.
The difference between the British and the American Phantom is most conspicuous precisely at the back, where the Rolls-Royce Spey engines called for a bulkier ending. The accessory offers a space hollowed out on the inside, suggested segments on the skin and an edge that can safely be thinned further with abrasive paper. The model thereby gets exactly the element by which the British version is recognized even in a photograph from behind.
Apply metallic shades in thin layers over a black base coat, or the surface will go grainy. You will create the varied rainbow coloring around the mouth with a glazing pass of blue and violet, and only at the end add a dry pigment into the gaps. Leave the inside of the mouth matte and dark, so that the eye does not look for a bottom in it. Anyone who wants to go further will suggest the stabilizing cone inside, which on the British version could be sensed when looking from behind.
Anyone building the older Japanese mold will appreciate that this single part moves the overall impression up to the level of current new releases. Older molds tend to have their weak point precisely at the tail, where the shape is hardest to check against a photograph.
